First post from my little bit of handheld Evil - iPhone

This is this the first post from my new-used iPhone. A friend of mine had sent me an Android, which I'm not going to make bad, but after using an iPod Touch, the Android seemed just a tad bit, well inferior. I had to restart it rather often, and it only had a small internal memory, meaning; if I downloaded a new app, then often enough there wasn't enough memory, and I had to decide which other app I wanted to delete. Upon my confession to my friend that I actually liked the iPhone better, he meant "he felt better using a device that didn't have him hanging onto Steve Jobs coattails". To which I replied, "is it better to have the original "mother of all evil mega Internet companies Google" knowing everything that you are doing?". It's not that I don't have anything against Android, but the technical, programming, business use, etc. Of the iPhone suits my tastes more.

I wish all Americans, past, present and future, a good and joyous 4th of July. English Stammtisch June 17th

Hi Everyone You already know that we're meeting on Thursday, June 17th - always the 3rd Thursday of the month in 2010. Meeting place is Hundskomödie Restaurant in Friedrichsau Park in Ulm, starting at 7 p.m. If you park on the parking lot where the RVs (or camper vans) park and walk into the park from there, you will see Hundskomödie on your left. We can sit on the patio if the weather is nice - which will keep down the noise a bit. Harry will be visiting from Scotland on that evening. The last two months we've had about 50 people attending the Stammtisch gatherings and many people feel that the group is getting too large - and too loud for good English conversation. And conversation is the reason we meet. So.... Sarah Jane Lees has offered to start a second Stammtisch group - possibly on Friday evenings. Sarah plans to be at Hundkomödie on the 17th - and would like to collect the email addresses of those of you who might be interested in joining - should we say - the younger Stammtisch. Please bring along ideas and suggestions of how we can get the new group started. Thanks, Sarah, for agreeing to do this. See you on the 17th Dawn and Heather

It has been grey and cool since Sunday afternoon, really a shame, no midday naps at the Baggersee, which means a higher coffee intake. What is really a shame, is that at the moment we have a few longer weekends, and if the weather sucks, all we do is mope around the house and get on each others nerves. At the same time, I don’t feel like painting or anything, and I still have pics on my camera that I need to upload, but just don’t feel like it. Yesterday the German Bundespresident quit his job, This is such a shame, because he seemed to layman’s opinion, to be the only politician in the whole German system that was worth a hoot. Angie, Westwave, Schäuble, Gysi, all the rest could be sent off to Siberia and Germany wouldn’t be the worse for it. Speaking with my wife, we noted that all the crap-weasels like Westerwelle hang on to their jobs, as if they had100psi suction cups stuck up their asses, and the good politicians quit at the drop of a hat. What is even sadder, is that what he said, was misconstrued, but basically true. On the other “Way of the hard hand”, there is Israel. It seems that they really fucked the taking of those ships to the max. I only hope that a lot more countries start taking a stand, and make the Israel government realise that they cannot get away with everything. I also hope the Israeli citizens, who do not support a lot of the heavy handed politics, start to pressure their own government to rethink their courses of action. If all the Arab nations stood up against them, then even America couldn’t really help them, so maybe they should start thinking about trying to get along with their neighbours. They get along with a few, but just can’t seem to cross the line to befriend themselves with others. Basically though, the best way to beat the Palestinians is really to turn the other check, and show the young Palestinians, that they could have a better life, if they cooperated, but to do this you have to trust them, and invite them into your home, give them jobs, if they don’t have anything to complain about, or rebel against, then they wont. But what do I know?!? YO!

Finally

The sun came out yesterday and today. Went wandering around the Lautertal near Ulm with my son, that was real nice except where I walked through the nettles, my legs are still burning. Oh well, that's nature. Other than that, I was glad that I finally got the tweeter to post on my FB account, that was quite nervy having to paste and copy and post on two different apps when I was underway. I really couldn't find anything like Digsby for the BB that would post on all sites at the same time. I just hope that the weather will hold awhile during the next couple of weeks. We have a 4 day week, a normal weekend, then three day week, then a 4 day weekend. Nice weather would top all of that off, because that'll be the last few free days until vacation in August. Although sometime in July I will probably fly back to China for a week, but that is still hardly vacation. As cool as it is to get out of the office, it s still a lot of stress.Now if I only had my real ass German Folk's Wagon car.

That I haven't posted anything on this blog for a shitload of Sundays. That sucks. It witnesses my lazy and uncaring attitude. Oh well, fuck it. Here goes.

Summer has arrived in Germany, and went pretty much straight into hiding like an ugly kid a a birthday party. Every once in awhile it peeks out of the closet, but closes the door again as soon as anyone looks too closely.

Other than that? Catpiss! That had to be said!!

I ordered a car. A real ass made in Germany car, from the folk's wagon company. It is sooo real ass made in Germany, that the Mexicans building it and shipping it from Mexico have made it have a delivery time of almost 6 months, probably because they are all in Arizona. My car wont get built until enough get arrested and shipped back to work in the German folk's wagon company factory.

I am tired of writing now.

As an American living in Germany, I must admit that I am privileged in certain ways. For example, I am on the outside of a lot of the information/disinformation system that is predominating in America. I love my country, served my country, and admit that I was glad that I didn't have to go to war for my country. If America was under attack on American soil, then I would have and would do my part. But if America attacks another government based on half-truths and personal visions of grandeur, then I am not ashamed to say, that I am not fighting for my country. The leaders that lead America into the present wars didn't do this for America's good, but that is a different matter, and can be discussed later.

 

I do support our troops, because I know many want to be where they are now, and many can't help but being where they are now. My question is; of those that are where they want to be, out in some foreign country, killing other humans, did they have all the truthful information that they really needed to make a good decision? I don't think so. Some of them went because of financial need, some for patriotic fervour, basically it is their wish, and this must be respected. But if they had had all the information, would they have decided otherwise?

 

In America, the people watch the news, read the paper, and listen to the radio. I do the same. The difference is; who controls the media in America, or in Europe? When visiting America, I feel that the information that I am getting is pretty well one-sided, in favour of America, against terrorists. This is good, I don't support the terrorists in any way, but if the media, in the course of spreading information, leaves out facts, or tells a one sided story, then is this correct? America was built on the search for truth and openness. Our Constitution gives us the right to free speech; shouldn't this give us the right to hear the truth from our leaders as well? And shouldn't they, if they lied, be held accountable? If I knowingly sell a car with faulty brakes, and a person is hurt or killed, then I would be held responsible. Our past leaders sold us a war with faulty brakes, and thousands have died. Not just Americans, but innocent people from those countries. They are not Americans, but does that make their deaths OK? Many more innocent Iraqis and Afghanis have died than American soldiers, but hardly an American talk about this. I feel sad for the American soldiers that have died, many so young; we should be speaking about the senseless tragedy that all these people have died for America, but really for what? The fight against terrorists? I understood, and supported the original fight in Afghanistan. This was a direct response to a real threat against America. I also feel that if we had thrown all of the effort into that war, that either with or without the help of the rest of the World Community, and with a lack of prejudice to the Muslim people, but with extreme prejudice against the Taliban, then we probably would have been finished, and most likely would have really helped ourselves and the region. But as soon as the troops were being used for Iraq, a senseless operation, then our interests and efforts were divided, and it is no wonder that the Taliban started regaining ground, and have made it harder to go back in and finish the job.

 

Naturally many American "experts" will talk about the WMD in Iraq, which were never found. I think that the leaders knew this, but brazenly lied to America, basically killing tens of thousand of people. They destabilized the region causing a field of dissatisfaction which is the best culture for recruiting more terrorists. The same terrorists that America originally went to war against. America has, as so often in the past, given birth to their own enemy. One thing about the WMD in Iraq, which I could see as all this was playing out was; at the same time that Bush was rattling his sable against Iraq, North Korea was rattling their sable against the rest of the world. Why did we attack Iraq and not North Korea? My suspicion was that they knew that North Korea had the WMD and would use them, and that Iraq wouldn't use them, because they didn't have any.
