Hello this is anothe

Hello, this is another test. Actually, I have tested this before, and it worked great. Then I had problems with my Outlook, now I am trying it again, maybe I’ll have more luck this time.

Anyways, as long as I am writing, then I might as well add some more. So far everything is OK, I was really sad about New Orleans, it seems a lot of the places we went to on our last vacation have gotten wasted, Pensacola, New Orleans, Mobile. Man I hope that that doesn’t keep happening, we will run out of places to go, as then I wont want to cause any one any trouble.

It is amazing how time flies, my daughter is 12, my son is 15, he is already looking for a place to start an apprenticeship next year, another 2-3 years and he will probably move out.

A lot of work in the office right now, I have a new colleague from China, I am teaching him some things, and hoping I can learn from him as well. He should take a lot of pressure from me, concerning the projects, and production in China, hopefully I get some more time, to start sales ;-))

Well gonna go and test this.

Test 230805

This is supposed to be a really long test of the new blogger for word function; the short test went really quick and painless. If this works, it will make blogging ridiculously easy.

On the other hand, that doesn’t mean I will write more, just easier.

;-))

Thanks and best wishes,
Alan

Lunch-Blog

First lunch-blog in quite awhile. What to say, what to say. Work is stressful as ever, the kids have summer holiday, and I can't wait for my vacation to start. Another 2 1 / 2 weeks. This time I'm working on getting things done well before my vacation starts, now it is pretty quiet, so I can really get things accomplished. As soon as I get back, then I have a week to catch up, then I will be back in China for a week. So it'll go bang-bang, back in the rut before long.

I will really enjoy the trip, we will be going to center parks in Bispinger Heide, a large vacation paradise, with covered tropical pool and market place. Almost everything inside is "fake" but you are not dependant on the weather. And cars are only allowed in to load or unload luggage at the bungalows, other wise, you just park the car and walk, or ride the bike everywhere, we were there about 2 years ago, and I have to admit, it was one of the most relaxing (short) vacations I've ever enjoyed.

It is only an hour south of Hamburg, so we plan to spend a night in Hamburg and visit some friends, and about 15 car-minutes away is an amusement Park with the highest (Largest?) wooden rollercoaster in Europe (WOW! CANT WAIT!!!)

Yep, I hope everyone who reads this gets jealous, but more over, I hope everyone has a good vacation, or at least a quiet period in which to collect and recollect.

back in hong kong

well i'm back in the hk airport, seems like thats one of the few places where i really have time to reflect on all these eclectrochemical processes jumping around in that glibbery pink thing thats called a "brain" it was a really quick paced week, jumping from one meeting to the next, the 6 day trip went reallz quick this time, and it seems it was worth the trouble, but we will really see the next couple of days/weeks. next week its work, sport, spend time with the fam, and more work. but i wanted it that way didn't i? i hope all is well in the states, sonni called my family, and wanted to ask if everything was ok afetr the huricane, her... she got daddy on the line, but she got through that fairly well i geuss, as she was able to laugh about it. i will really try to make an effort to start my lunch blogs again, i think that is the best time, and a quick way to clean the pallette, and go to lunch, and start the afternoon run with just a bit less stress. gonna go, flights in an hour, hope it goes smooth, gotta 1&1/2 books, a couple of films, and probably a couple of cold beers waiting. ( cool abou cathay pacific.... IT'S ALL FREE!!!! YAY... NO $5.- BEER OR WINE) ciao YO!

what a week

well the end of another week, how time flies! this week was... wow!

Monday started stormy and full of stress, but at least on Tuesday, all hell broke loose, then on Wednesday, things sped up a bit, but by Thursday the week had reach its climax, and today everything slowed from 100mph down to 120mph. This was really a week full of Mondays. But thats OK, it makes us appreiciate the weekends that much more. I really do like my job, but lets face it it is still a job, I guess that is why I like Friday, then I can go home and do non-job related things, except when I take the laptop home and do "home work". But even there I am doing it at home, maybe in the garden, or at the dining room table, loud music, TV, all the nice things you just dont really have on the job.

The weather isnt the greatest here, I hope it gets a bit better on the weekend, a bit of sun would help the spirits, I am finally getting over a sore throat, so I cant do any sport at the moment, so I would at least like to sit in the sun a bit, maybe fire up the grill, etc.

'nuff said for now.

yowza

A guy came into a bar one day and said to the barman "Give me six double vodkas." The barman says "Wow! you must have had one hell of a day." "Yes, I've just found out my older brother is gay." The next day the same guy came into the bar and asked for the same drinks. When the bartender asked what the problem was today the answer came back..."I've just found out that my younger brother is gay too!"On the third day the guy came into the bar and ordered another six double vodkas. The bartender said "Jesus! Doesn't anybody in your family like women?""Yeah, my wife..."

test this! revisited

So this is my new „blog-form“ just a word document with the tabs set in the same size as the blog, so that the posting doesn’t look so “hacked” actually you can disregard this, and read the other ones, if this works, great, if not, chalk it up to another wasted 5 minutes. Yo!

Another long stretch

Yeah, it has been another long stretch since my last blog, lack of time, and lack of interest are to blame. Blogging is fun in itself, but to use as a daily diary? I never have been the big diary type. A lot of days i really don't have much to say, so i say nothing, ther days i don't have much to say but say it anyways (like today) actually it isn't that so little happens in my life, or that i don't have funny things to tell, but i prefer face to face (or at least telephone) conversation, i guess chatting (i use msn forbusiness "chats" with some of our production sites) is also ok, but this seems pretty one-sided, and although i cant complain about any inferiority complexes, i am also not so in love with myself, to really believe that all that i write about myself is interesting to anyone but my friends or family. Yet when i write something here, i always have the feeling that i am writing to "anyone out there" who bumbles onto my blog (all praise the next blog button- amen) i know when i am blurfing, there are a few things that catch my attention and make me read further, such as funny lists ... top 100 things I... and sometimes rants, sometimes a story or jokes, i also like the blogs with pictures, but to tell you the truth dear fellow blurfer, i really don't want anyone out there to necessarily know what my family or myself looks like. So anyways, since I don't have much to say, I'll say this in conclusion....

long time no blog

.... yeah it has been quite awhile, i checked up my my blogs, and that of my sister, and then i blurfed a bit. strange, this time i kept comimng back to blogs i had just viewed minutes before...... ponder...... life goes on. my kids got me the book "Eragon" for fathers day, it was pretty good, I didnt realise it was a trilogy, until i was at the last twenty or thirty pages, and said... "hey, so far no climax, in fact far from it" the my wife told me, that my daughter knew that already ( she is reading it as well, but naturally in german) now i have two series that i have started, and will probably have to order the next books thro amazon. the book stores in ulm are poorly stocked with english lituatur, mostly just the newest best-sellers and "big names". well it is starting to turn warm (now and then) spring/summer is comming (about time) the concerts are starting up, we dont get alot of the "big" bands over here since 9/11, but some thing are really good, the next month and a half we will be pretty busy, here is our itenerary, if you dont know these guys, dont feel bad....

farin urlaub (singer from die ärzte)

willy deville (singer from mink deville)

maidaiko aska-gumi (trad. jap. drummers)

.. and we will see who else pops up this season, that isnt a bad start. i already (legaly) downloaded the first single from the foo fighters new album, sounds good, cant wait till i can (legally) buy it. what else? yeah, i went to an english speaking"stammtisch" a stammtisch is a regularly reacuring meeting, usualy in the same bar/cafe, usualy at the same table, but in this case they change resturants/bar/cafe every so often, so that the people can try new places. it was cool, i posted it on http://americans-in-ulm.blogspot.com/ before hand, and when i am thru here i will write a small piece for that as well. i wanted to spread the word about it a bit, but so far, dawn, who organises it, hasnt written so i dont her e-mail, as soon as i do, i hope to get more traffic. well maybe i can post more tomorrow.Yo!

Return of the great white ? office worker ?

Well I'm on the train from Frankfurt back to Ulm, I'll go home, shower, lay down a bit, and wait for Sonni to get home, in the afternoon I'll go to the office a while and see what's going on. Tomorrow it'll really start. Then the trot sets in, sometimes it is really good to get away from the office, but unfortunately, the trot sets in again way too quickly. My problem is self-discipline, whether in the office, or in private, it is hard for me to concentrate on a project, or homework, or to set and hold steady times for certain tasks. It is a shame there is no "little pill" that could give self-discipline, but on the other hand, if a pill could give self-discipline, it would be the easiest of tasks, for bosses, or governments to use this for "all" discipline. It is like all things in life, it can be achieved through hard work, and (haha) self-discipline. It seems to make that a bit of a catch 22. we are arriving in Stuttgart, after that we need about an hour then I'll be back home where a hot shower, a sofa, and later a big hot cup of strong German coffee will be the deal. (Asians don't do good coffee) there are things I like about China, but it is always good to get back to a culture that is familiar. This time more than all previous times, it bugged me that I cannot understand the language, or read signs or papers in China, it is a really good "on spur" to make myself keep up on my studies in Chinese, that and some (haha) self-discipline.

Well I think I'll shut it down now and enjoy a few minutes of not doing anything, because I know as soon as I get back to the office, all hell will probably break loose.

I'll post this later, so any feeling of time contained in the posting may feel distorted, but aren't we all a bit distorted?

new post at last

Wow, now i really haven't written in a while, let me send this and see how long it takes to get posted. Just had a week of vacation, and tomorrow its back to work. At least it's a short week, then a weekend. And then it's back down to china for a week. I was just blurfing a bit (blog-surfing, maybe I should patent that!) and it seems like I land on a lot of "sales" or "Info" blogs that repeat the same thing over and over, whazat huh? Me no unnerstand !?! what is the sense in repeating "Tractor parts" or "Dysentery problems of small pet dogs" over and over and over? "bird houses", "emus", why the work? Do these people think it is a way of good, cheap advertisement? Cheap yes, good no! not my problem really, just flick of the "next blog" button and the world looks different. And a lot of students, aren't they supposed to be studying? On the other hand, I have written during work when I should be working; so I guess I cant say much there.

I was on amazon looking for part three of a book series called "Reality Dysfunction" from Peter F. Hamilton, WoW did I get the better lesson, the shrewd boy didn't name the next book "R-D-III" the next two books have a different name, and the next two even another, that's 6 books! I love to read, and I thought the first two were great, but knowing that there are four more books in the series, and the a couple of book that are related to, but not really connected to the series, is really daunting. The first two books I picked up in the states, and the rest I will have to order thru amazon. Cie la vie.

For two days i got a call from rob-dog, a greatly cool friend in texas, that he will be visiting. we were stationed here together, and then he went back home, after a few years, he came to visit, and stayed a few years, then he went back a few years, ill be waiting to see if he stays again this time (probably not) but i cant wait to see him again.

Well gonna go now and see how long this takes

1st March lunch blog

howdy hey ho cowpersons,

IT WAS -18°c THIS MORNING!! eeeeyuuuuckkk!! this morning i stayed in bed ´till 7:00, no fitness, but thats ok, this evening i have arnis (a philippine type martial art, with sticks or knives that we do in addition to our normal JuJutsu training) so i´ll get my movement in today.

yesterday i had the first class of follow up chinese, i have had our teacher before, and naturally she wanted to know why i repeated the starter course, and if the other teacher was better, and what she did better etc. and then she clawed me, why i´m not better, and why i havent learned more, etc. wow, we are only three people in the class, but we need at least 5, if i´m lucky, they´ll cancell the course, i´ll get the money back, and i can look for private lessons, or set up a small class with just a couple of people and a private teacher. i know that my biggest problem is to make myself study at home. i lack the self-discipline to really study at least 1/2 hour per day, so i usually cram before the next course so i dont look totaly stupid.

what i also want are the flash cards, i dont know what the system is called in english, you have a long box divided into 4-5 sections, and place the cards in the first section, and rotate these until you know them, then you place the well known cards into the next section, and review these less, and so on, until all cards are in the back section, naturally with chinese i would need a really long box for about 10,000 - 20,000 symbols (lol) just kidding, i need to start with at least the first 200 that are in our book. i have this system on my laptop, but these are really about 1,000 - 2,000 symbols, and not in the order of our book, so- so far i haven´t used it much.

well back to work now, lazed off enough.

Yo!
