Well they snatched an hour from us on Sunday, but I am sure we will get it back in the fall, unless the world ends, in which case it won't matter anyways. It is still pretty cool, but the sun is trying to come out… no, not out of the closet, just from behind the clouds. In fact I see bits of blue here and there between the clouds.

It was till really cold and wet yesterday, but I still went walking, was underway about two hours. Walked into town, drank coffee, and walked home again. Nothing really interesting along the way, except the small "man-formed" twig I saw on the ground. Just had to take a picture. Amazing what a bit of black and white and sepia colouring can do to an otherwise boring little snapshot.

I am basically just writing this to write it.

Guess I'll stop while I'm ahead.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "8:49": eggs, cholesterol, meat, and cheese are all GOOD for you. the only unhealthy thing your breakfast contained was the chemical/fake cheese. want to learn more? start here: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/oiling.html Posted by Anonymous to alan heath - private blog at 3:44 PM

8:49

It is Saturday morning 8:49, and I have just eaten an omelette made with 3 eggs for the cholesterol, some leftover Kebap meat for the fat, some real German cheese and this chemical fake cheddar cheese for the chemicals and fat. But I almost ruined it by putting a bit of olive oil in the pan. But I don't think that my body will notice that tiny bit of oily health.

Anyways, the reason I am awake so early on a Saturday morning is;

  1. My wife went to a book flea-market, so I got up drank some tea with her, and helped her load the car.
  2. A Chinese dude wants to visit me in my office today. He isn't sure when he is coming or exactly how he is getting here, just that we should meet "this afternoon"………

Hot damn!

I mean, it is OK because they go to great lengths to meet us in China, and I will naturally show him the same respect. That is not only obvious, but I also enjoy meeting with him.

But being an American living in Germany so long, I guess the anal fixation of being punctual has coloured off on me, and making out fixed meeting times, and being there, maybe 1-2 minutes early, etc.

Anyways, seeing as how my wife is busy most of the day, and the weather sucks, then I will probably wake the kids soon just to piss 'em off, and have them do their chores. Oh but I see the first one just zombied on down. That saves me work, and that's what kids are for anyways aren't they?

Oh man, today was not so worky! I started doing some thought-intensive work, but kept getting interrupted. It is always hard to get back into the groove then. Multi-Tasking is an urban fairy tale thought up from chaotic nerds and bosses who do more delegation than real work.

At least the weather sucks; then I am not tempted to think about skipping work and going outside and running around naked. No, not tempted at all. I am getting older and hairier, but I don't have enough to constitute being a woolly-warm-wolf-man just yet.

I never was good at English, it was actually more my step-mother language, my mother language being southern drawl died when I started going to school and mixing with all thos snow-bird kids. What I was going to get at, was that there are times that I write a word, and it just doesn't seem right. Like hairier; it seems like it should be hairyer, or at least hairy-er. But then agin, I regularly misspell received,  dunno why, but that is one of the few "i before e except after c" words that always gets me! Everytime! Thank ( insert god of choice ) for Spell check in Word.

Joined twitter, and have nothing to tweet. Somehow it surprised me, though it really shouldn't have, how many people want to follow me, or me to follow them, and are really just commercial, just trying to get me to buy something. Now I can play poker, buy car sponges, and many other wonderful thing of this modern age, just by clicking on a twitter link.

Hot damn!

´that's all folks,

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

So I am sitting here in my office, taking 5, sipping a coffee and enjoying the mild weather, "at last" I think, "finally good weather" I say to myself, but myself says "yeh, yeh …. The wife said its supposed to snow again"… "huh" says I, "since when do you listen to her?!?"

No, really, we will see. I mean I am generally a positive person, although you wouldn't think it reading my past postings, but as said, I am a fair weather optimist. As long as the sun is shining, I enjoy life, but as soon as it is cold and wet and grey, then I am down. I guess a lot of folks are like that.

One thing I am waiting for (to get back to griping), are the spring caprioles of the drivers on Germany's roads. As soon as the weather changes, for better or worse, they drive even more sucky than otherwise, yes they go from sucky to super-sucky, then when the weather is really good, and all those hormones are really cooked up in the summer heat, they peak into stages of ultra-sucky……. Can't wait for that.

Mon dieu, or whatever.

Back in Wunderschönen Ulm, with all of its fog and grey, my God how I've missed it… wait a minute, I didn't miss it at all. I mean I expected better weather in China, but as we got there, it was about 12° to 14° and raining, so really no big change from Germany. It warmed up and stopped raining by the time we left, but not really to the point that I could say it was "warming to the spirit" or anything.. But at least when we got home is was cold and grey, God how I missed that…. No…. no matter how much I try, it is still shit!

But at least on Friday, after I landed, I was out driving and had a middle aged woman NOT let me change lanes, and then some young woman in her 5er BMW absolutely wanted to pass me, in my little Smart, God how I missed that…. 'nuff said….. [dream sequence; driving, flame thrower, etc.]

It's not like all I have to do is complain, but it helps me cope. And hey it's not like you have to listen, if you don't catch my gripe, then blurf on to the next blog.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post " Many thnxs to Anonymous, whoever you may be. But...":

bitte schön! we don't know each other personally. but, I do know, personally, how it is not to get comments, feedback, ect.

maybe I should write a book and the first line can be: "I had a blog". but that seems like too cheap a shot at trying to sound like Isak Dinesen....

or maybe I should start an A-Team like mission on the web and do more such "random" acts of kindness... it's just that most blogs I've seen don't inspire me enough to do that. but yours did.

yeah.

Many thnxs to Anonymous, whoever you may be. But that leaves a question, if you know the weather has sucked, then you are here and possibly even know me personally.  And now you have written anonymously. Hmmmm that leaves me thinking.

ja- das Wetter in Ulm has been really sucky this winter. I really don't have much to comment on- but that's not because there's nothing worth commenting on your blog about- it's just that I am not much of a commentor.... but, since you wanted a comment- here one is.

OK, ALLRIGHT, I haven't written again within the past couple of days. Live with it! Haven't had much to write about anyways. On Friday I am flying to China for a week, lets see if I can get any good shots. When I get back I will talk with my son, and get the homepage set up correctly, and, and, and…. Actually, I have so much to do, that I'm not sure where to start.

Still wish I had a flame thrower!!
